Hmm, I now think Facebook will take over the world. Today we have just gotten news that the first Facebook SIM card will be  available on all GSM cell phones.

The Facebook SIM card will basically be make it possible to have the ultimate Facebook experience on your phone.

Want to poke your friends at 2 in the morning? It can do that. Want to post that one funny YouTube video about the dancing cat, it can do that.

Its Facebook, on your phone. As if visiting Facebook on your phone directly wasn’t enough.

Here is  a bit of what a spokesperson had to say about the SIM card.

We worked closely with Gemalto on their Facebook for SIM product and believe it will be another easy and affordable way for people to stay connected through Facebook on the mobile phone of their choice. Facebook for SIM creatively combines technologies from some of our existing mobile solutions that especially are attractive for people with feature phones and have limited or no data plans with a mobile operator. Through the Facebook application on the SIM card people can: Update their status and view comments on it; write on their friends wall; receive notifications; find friends on their SIM phonebook.

The cards are currently now in development and should be expected to be released later this year or the next.

  • What do you think of the news?
  • Do you suspect Facebook will take over the world?

I already have facebook on my phone, but this is great for those that don’t.

I am not sure about facebook taking over the world, I actually think it will collapse soon – but who knows!
